Welcome back legends! Back to announcing our highly anticipated Business of the Month for June 2021...Kane Constructions! We recently chatted to the team over at Kane Constructions about what impact they have seen since implementing TradeMutt gear on site.

Business: Kane Constructions

Location: Richmond, Victoria

Employees: 201 - 500

What impact have the TradeMutt shirts had on your staff and company culture?

Since adding the TradeMutt shirts to the Kane ACT wardrobe, we’ve stood out by putting our commitment to mental health on our backs and have actively integrated mental health workshops into our staff training. Our team have been wearing the shirts to meetings, conferences, site visits, industry talks, events, parties and more. People feel they can approach us, sparking conversations to ask where we got them from and what “This is a Conversation Starter” actually means. It’s also more than a shirt to us. We’ve put measures in place to increase our own training of how to better our mental health and be supportive of each other.

What impact have the TradeMutt shirts had on your customers?

We believe our customers can easily identify Kane’s values and commitment to bettering the industry. They know we’re not just ticking boxes and that we’re actively being a part of the change to make the industry safer by ensuring mental health is a priority topic.

What stories of impact have come out of your business wearing TradeMutt gear?

An example of the TradeMutt impact was when our General Manager and Bid Coordinator wore our bright yellow ‘Ventura’  TradeMutt shirts at a local government conference about women in construction. We were instantly approached by people in the industry who absolutely loved the shirts and when we spoke about the why of TIACS, it got a whole group of people discussing the topic of mental health and what support is out there. Put simply, the shirts are a conversation starter.

Why does your business support TradeMutt?

It started with our Operations Manager Pip Seldon joining Kane last year and bringing the foundations of mental health wellbeing with her organisation ‘The Healthy Tradie Project’. We wanted to visually demonstrate that mental health is one of our top priorities and that we take it seriously. The TradeMutt shirts stand out, they’re different and unapologetic, kind of like the leadership of the Kane ACT branch. We support TradeMutt because if something as simple as a shirt can start a conversation that could save someone’s life, that’s priceless.

Would you recommend TradeMutt workwear to other businesses and if so why?

Yes, yes, yes! We do recommend TradeMutt workwear to other businesses because if everyone is wearing “This is a Conversation Starter”, we can make mental health a conversation that people feel open to talk about. It means we’re making the industry safer by empowering people to listen and to be heard.

Fancy kitting your team out in TradeMutt? We'd love the support!
